Since the release of CoD B-b-b-b Black ops, there are frequent recurring connection issues. I've done some research on a steam and GPG (Gass Powered Games) forums. Sadly no one seems to know what's exactly causing the issue but its claimed to be on steams end and not supcom2 itself. Seeing as steam isn't very good at maths and has issues converting currency and other games like Worms reloaded which also employs the matchmaking system, is having similar problems this seems likely to be the case.
I'd like to narrow down the issue and then report in on steam and GPG forums so that it can be fixed.
The connection issue only occurs when you fail to connect directly to the user on the other end and will resort to steam servers to make the connection.
I believe that depends on how you are connected to the other person. Steam does have replay servers for P2P if you are unable to directly connect to someone.
This is where things go wrong:- Users relatively close geographical end up with insanely high pings 200-800 were as in a direct connection they wouldn't be over 100.
- Randomly losing connection to the user which shows up as a de-sync, issue can only be fixed if one of the de-synced players leaves. If someone randomly explodes during the game and it freezes up, you and another user are causing the de-sync. (For everyone else nobody blows up until a player leaves)
- Unable to make a connection to one or more players in the lobby (They show up as 0 ping) causing you to be kicked from the lobby. Rejoining sometimes helps.

Possibly HOTFIX (Fixed Shotking his 0 ping issue with Fatal and brought down his ping from 250-300 to 100)Change your steam download region to: United Kingdom: Manchester. By using the same download region issues seem to resolve.
Note. Untested theory, merely an observation.Possibly HOTFIX 2 (random chance of fixing the issue and only works temporarily)Deleting your clientregistry.blob which is located in your steam/ folder. Make sure you quit steam first.
